Can You Test Ride a Used Motorcycle for Sale?
Of course! We encourage it! Test ride anything we have in stock.
The best rider is an informed one. Before you make a major purchase, you want to know if the power output is what you're looking for and if the seating position fits your frame. You also probably want to experience whether a cruiser, sport, touring or standard model is best for the type of riding you do the most of.
How to Get The Most Out of Your Harley Test Ride
If you've never test ridden a motorcycle before, you may be wondering what you're looking for. Harley® is about individuality, especially when it comes to buying a bike. You want to find the one that looks and feels like it was made for you.
Before Your Test Ride
We see riders of all skill levels at Harley-Davidson® of Dallas in Allen Texas. If you just got your motorcycle license, we're excited for you. Plus, we're happy to answer questions you have about getting started. Don't worry about asking things a more seasoned rider wouldn't. Everyone feels a little nervous when they're first getting on a new bike. That's healthy.
Familiarize yourself with the bike's seat height, handlebar position, foot peg position, brakes and clutch before you start. If something doesn't feel or work right, ask questions. This could keep you from getting hurt or damaging the bike.
During Your Motorcycle Test Ride
This is where the exhiliration hits. You're probably going to know pretty quickly if you're falling in love with the bike. There are a few things professional motorcycle testers focus on to evaluate:
- The engine - how does it idle, vibrate, sound and feel through the footpegs, seat and handlebars
- Performance - Ride like you do every day. How does it respond to the throttle as you change gears?
- Starts and stops - Are the brakes what you're comfortable with?
- Handling - Navigate a pothole or two. Take a corner and see how it feels
After Your Test Ride
If you're test riding more than one, take a minute between to summarize for yourself what you liked and disliked about each bike. Talk to your associate, since sometimes we can make fixes on the spot like trying a different seat or making simple adjustments. If you're interested but not sure how it fits your budget, our finance department is the best in the area.
Why Test Ride a Motorcycle at Harley-Davidson® of Dallas?
We have a huge selection and the most helpful staff you'll find in the state. Check out what previous customers say:
"I was very happy to receive an e-mail for me to test drive a Harley and that they will give me a $25.00 gift card with no hassle. Well, I went to Allan Harley in Texas and was welcomed by Tony and he helped me get exactly what I was looking for. He took the time to make sure I understand the difference and the benefits of the newer bike before we went for a test drive. He was very clear and set the expectation from the beginning on how everything was going to happen. (safety briefing, required paperwork and provided all the riding gear) He was also the lead on the test drive that was very nice. I tell you everything he pointed out was true. He also shared with me what models on the floor were available and all the different options for me to upgrade to the newer model. I am definitely considering the upgrade sooner than later after this great experience. Answered all my questions, didn't pressure me but he was making sure he provided me with every bit of information. This kind of customer approach is what makes you stand out from the rest and secures customer loyalty. Not only I am a potential buyer in the future, but I will send tons of referrals to Tony in the future. Thank you, Tony and thanks Harley to allow your employees to do whatever it takes to create a memorable experience. Finally, of course, I will be using my $25.00 towards service on my Harley." - Eduardo Osorio
"I scheduled a test ride with Heather and had an awesome, stress free experience. Heather was relaxed, knowledgeable, and not pushy at all. After I stopped by Harley I had pretty terrible experiences at some of the competition right down the road, so helmets off to Heather and the rest of her crew for treating me with attentiveness and respect." - Sean Warner
"Great Sales Staff and overall great people to be around and do business with. They're NOT pushy about trying to sell you what THEY want to sell you. They are interested in each person as an individual and what it is that makes that person happy. They take an interest in the person not just the sales of a motorcycle. They were interested in my family, my work, what I did for relaxation and the things that make me who I am as a person. I will recommend them highly to anyone who is interested in the purchase of a fine machine, Harley Davidson." - Mark Leonard
