It's always exciting when Harley® releases the next year's models. If you get to see a reveal in person, you feel like history is being made. Hopefully you made it to the 2020 reveal at Harley-Davidson® of Dallas in Allen and got to experience that breathless excitement firsthand. If not, here are some of the highlights on the 2020 Harley® models - what's new and what's going away.
2020 Softail Line
If life has pretty much never been the same for you since H-D® stopped making the Dyna, or if you're not a fan of the blacked out trend so popular in the last few years, the 2020 Harley® models are going to make you very, very happy. Get down to our dealership and check out these bikes.
2020 Low Rider S
Who knows why Harley® quit making Dyna back in 2017. I mean, obviously there was a reason behind it, but some of us will forever think it couldn't have been a very good one. Evidently Harley® arrived at the same conclusion, because the new 2020 Low Rider S brings back a Dyna-esque club-style cruiser that's heavy on performance. When you feel that rumble between your thighs, it's both new and exciting and comfortingly familiar, nostalgia and tantalizing freshness all rolled into one sinister beast.
Harley® describes it as an all-new blacked-out performance-cruiser with a style that's as aggressive as its ride. We'll look at it in greater detail in a post coming soon. Key features include a Milwaukee-Eight 114 engine for loads of torque on takeoff and for everything that follows. The frame has a reduced, 28-degree rake for more responsive handling, an inverted front fork and the classic, lightweight Softail frame.
Restyled 2020 Heritage Classic
Some riders will go to their grave believing all true Harley®s are covered in chrome. If that's you, you'll approve the restyling of the 2020 Heritage Classic, because the manufacturer didn't spare the shiny on this one. Here's where you'll see beautiful, gleaming, high polished chrome:
- Chrome air cleaner and covers
- Chrome steel-laced wheels
- Chrome headlamp bucket
- Chrome auxiliary light bucket
- Chrome fork legs
- Chrome fork covers and nacelle
- Chrome rear fender struts
- Chrome side covers
- Chrome console
- Chrome riser and top clamp
- Crome windshield support hardware
That's a lot of chrome. There's also a polished stainless steel handlebar to complete the look. It comes in Vivid Black, Billiard Burgundy, Tahitian Teal, Silver Pine/Spruce and Billiard Red/Vivid Black
2020 Heritage Classic 114
You can still get a blacked-out Heritage Classic. The 114 is back in the line of 2020 Harley® models, and it keeps its darker blacked-out look. As the name indicates, it comes with a Milwaukee-Eight 114 for 119 ft/lbs of torque at 3,000 rpm.
Most the changes to Harley®'s touring line are subtle. The biggest difference is Road Glide Ultra is going away, replaced by the new Road Glide Limited. At least for now, Harley® is also discontinuing the Electra Glide Ultra Classic. You get the same high-end luxury you've come to expect from a Harley-Davidson® Touring bike on the iconic shark-nosed Road Glide platform. The 2020 Road Glide Limited has smooth-as-silk aerodynamics and an ultra-powerful Milwaukee-Eight 114 engine. It's loaded with extras like Boom! Box GTS infotainment, painted pinstripes, a high gloss inner fairings, a completely new tank and heated handgrips.
Saying Goodbye To These Sporties
There are some exciting additions to the H-D® family, but we're also saying some sad goodbyes. We're losing three of the seven Sportsters, and it feels a little like heartbreak.
2020 Sportster models still include Iron 883, Iron 1200, Forty-Eight and Roadster. However, these models didn't make the cut:
- Forty-Eight Special
- 1200 Custom
Harley® introduced the 1200 Custom XL 1200C in 1996, so it's a familiar friend we're sad to see go. Superlow has also been around a respectable amount of time, since 1200. The Forty-Eight Special just made its debut in 2018, but will be equally missed.
Completely New Harley-Davidson® Models
In addition to the aforementioned Low Rider S and the Road Glide Limited, Harley-Davidson® announced these new 2020 models.
Unless you've been living in a cave, you've probably already heard about Harley®'s first-ever electric motorcycle, but it's so hot we figure you probably won't mind hearing a little more. On Livewire, you don't have to wait any longer to feel like you're on a futuristic machine in a dark superhero movie, that future is now. There's no spooling up with an electric engine, no need to shift gears, just instant power when you roll on the throttle. The bike has unbelievably sleek lines and never-before-available technology.
2020 CVO Tri Glide
Tri Glide is known for being the ultimate in stability, storage and riding comfort, and CVO is top-shelf luxury. Now CVO Tri Glide brings the best of both worlds. Here are just a few of the high points:
- Milwaukee-Eight 117 Twin Cooled Engine
- Reflex Defensive Rider Systems standard for better traction during acceleration, deceleration and braking
- Exclusive paints and finishes for unmatched intricacy
- BOOM! GTS Infotainment
- Next level Touring suspension for extreme high performance

New Technology - Connect
H-D® Connect comes standard on 2020 Touring bikes, with the exception of Road King and Electra Glide Standard. It also comes with Tri Glude Ultra, CVO and LiveWire. Connect helps riders keep track of vehicle health info and bike security from any location using their smartphone. Connect also makes it easier for LiveWire owners to find charging stations and monitor charge levels.
